featured farmer: zestful gardens

Zestful Gardens is a 35-acre farm in the Puyallup Valley. Mother and daughter farming team, Holly and Valerie, tend eight acres in organic vegetables, small fruits and herbs, another 15 in rotating cover crops and pasture, and eight in orchard and woodland. They practice organic and biodynamic agriculture with a deep commitment to sustainable farming and a zest for good local food. As a truly "local" farm, they proudly sell only produce that is grown on their farm!

at the market

Zestful Gardens will be selling their fresh, organic vegetables and herbs every Sunday at the Meadowbrook Farmers Market.

Zestful Gardens will also be delivering weekly vegetable boxes to their CSA members at our market. Becoming a CSA member is a great way to support a local farmer. Please consider becoming a Zestful Garden CSA member. You can pick up your Zestful Gardens CSA box every Sunday at the Meadowbrook Farmers Market. To join the CSA, please see their brochure.

The Farmers

Holly has been farming in Northern Scotland, New South Wales, Australia, Hudson Valley of New York, and here in the Puyallup Valley over the past 12 years. She loves the challenges of farming and motherhood. Our youngest farmer, Hadley Grace, is now 2 1/2 years old!

Valerie has 40 years of experience as a home gardener, as well as wildcrafting, raising medicinal herbs and making various medicinal preparations. She also has extensive experience in a wide variety of food preservation techniques. She practices a number of fiber arts including spinning, knitting and basketry.
